"My residency experience fundamentally shifted my relationship to my practice, to myself, to art, and to life. It affirmed intuitions I had and showed me things I desperately needed to hear and see."

Thom Wheeler Castillo

Artist-In-Residence

As a studio artist resident with DVCAI, I've had the incredible opportunity to be in the heart of DVCAI's homebase, to witness and exchange with diverse, like-minded artists, fostering both my creative growth and cultural understanding. The Incubator's supportive environment has truly inspired me to push boundaries in my work, making this an enriching and transformative experience.

About
Us

Serving over 2,600 BIPOC, (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists, DVCAI is the premiere Afro-Diasporic arts incubator in Miami, Florida, providing guidance, resources, and opportunities for BIPOC artists to succeed in the Southeastern United States, the national scene, and across the globe. Our work is propelled by moving the needle on an artist's career from emerging to mid-career, supporting artists with long-term, multi-year curatorial support, residencies, and exchanges. Our membership program for Caribbean Artists is complimentary, encouraging further interactions with our Miami-based organization, and expanding our roster of Caribbean artists.
